# Privacy Policy for Press Start

## 1. Introduction
Press Start ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Press Start mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our App.
By using Press Start, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
## 2. Information We Collect
### 2.1 Account InformationWhen you create an account, we collect:- Email address- Display name- Date of birth- Gender- Country
### 2.2 Profile InformationTo enhance your experience and enable matchmaking, we collect:- Bio/description- Profile photo (avatar)- Gaming preferences (main class, playstyle traits, preferred play times, voice chat preference)- Top five favorite games
### 2.3 Gaming Data- Game library information (titles added manually or imported via Steam)- Steam ID (optional, provided voluntarily by the user for game library syncing)
### 2.4 Usage Data- Swipe activity (likes and skips)- Match and chat data (messages exchanged between matched users)- XP and level progression- Leaderboard rankings- Subscription status and purchase history
### 2.5 Device and Technical Data- Push notification tokens (for delivering notifications)- Device identifiers used by advertising services (Google AdMob)
## 3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:- Create and manage your account- Build your gaming profile and display it to other users- Calculate compatibility scores between players based on gaming preferences- Facilitate matches and enable in-app messaging between matched users- Deliver push notifications for new matches, messages, and app updates- Maintain leaderboards and XP-based ranking systems- Process in-app purchases and manage subscription status- Display advertisements through Google AdMob- Improve and maintain the App- Enforce our terms of service and prevent abuse
## 4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored using Google Firebase services, including:- **Firebase Authentication** for account management- **Firebase Firestore** for profile data, matches, chats, and app data
We implement appropriate technical measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
## 5. Data Sharing
We do **not** sell your personal data to third parties.
Your data may be shared in the following limited circumstances:- **With other users**: Your profile information (display name, avatar, bio, gaming preferences, game library) is visible to other users of the App for matchmaking purposes. Chat messages are only visible to the participants of that conversation.- **Google AdMob**: We use Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve relevant ads. No personal profile data is shared with advertisers. We do not store your payment information.- **Steam API**: If you choose to link your Steam account, we access your public game library through the Steam Web API using the Steam ID you provide. We do not access your Steam password or private account information.- **Legal requirements**: We may disclose your data if required by law or in response to valid legal processes.
## 6. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed, including:- Your profile and account information- Game library data- Swipe history- Matches and chat messages- Interactions and activity data- Firebase Authentication credentials
## 7. Your Rights
You have the right to:- **Access** your personal data stored in the App- **Correct** inaccurate personal data through the Edit Profile feature- **Delete** your account and all associated data at any time through the App (Profile > Edit Profile > Delete Account)- **Request deletion** without app access by contacting us at the email address below- **Withdraw consent** for data processing at any time by deleting your account- **Opt out of push notifications** through your device settings
## 8. Children's Privacy
Press Start is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If we learn that we have collected data from a user under 18, we will delete that information promptly.
## 9. Advertising
We use Google AdMob to display ads within the App. AdMob may use device identifiers and cookies to serve ads based on your interests. No personal profile data from Press Start is shared with ad providers. You can manage your ad preferences through your device's advertising settings.
## 10. In-App Purchases
Press Start offers optional premium subscriptions processed through Google Play. Payment information is handled entirely by Google Play and is not stored or accessible by us.
## 11. Push Notifications
We may send push notifications for new matches, messages, and app updates. You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings.
## 12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the updated policy within the App. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
